Our clients for this kitchen renovation are encountering lots of life changes. The husband works in Jersey City, and years ago the family moved out to the suburbs so their son would have access to better schools.
This fall, their son is headed off to college. The family plans to downsize and live in this Edgewater, NJ apartment — at least for a few years, with an eye toward resale. Wherever they will settle permanently, we’re excited to help them elevate their space here and now.

The apartment has a beautiful view overlooking the Hudson river and the New York City skyline. However, the kitchen is walled off from the main living space — and from the view. The clients’ goal is a luxurious space with a layout that better suits the rest of the apartment.

Right now, when you enter the apartment, you see a narrow hallway and a wall. We are opening up the entrance by removing one of the kitchen walls, so that when you walk in you see the kitchen and then beyond it, the living space with a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline.

In the kitchen we’re also adding a large island and upgrading appliances and cabinets. We plan to install new flooring and a new backsplash.

At the clients’ request, we’ve also designed plans for a facelift for each of the bathrooms. Once they see the final design and quotes, they can choose whether to include these options in the current phase of the renovation.
