Over the past few weeks, I have been immersing myself in learning about anti-racism.
Let me be honest – this has been a wakeup call to me.
I always thought that all I had to do was teach my kids to love everyone.
Then I started looking and listening harder, and here’s what I came to understand: they are getting messages all the time from our culture and from other people that white lives matter more than black lives.
And that is not okay with me.
So I’m diving into this anti-racist work: imperfectly. But I’m here.
And I’ve been asking myself deep questions about what I have to offer to make this world a better place.
Here’s what I’m coming to think and understand:
Those unconscious biases in your head – we all have them – are like clutter.
And race bias is just one unconscious structure or belief that’s holding us back from fully stepping into and allowing the flow of energy into our lives.
We don’t want these unconscious structures in our heads. We don’t want clutter in our homes. But both the unconscious biases and the clutter sit there until we make a conscious choice to sift through them and decide what to keep (if anything) and what to throw away.
I truly believe that our entire life and all our energy is intertwined.
So the physical space we live in affects the mental and emotional space we live in.
If you want to create shifts in your ways of thinking and shifts in how you’re showing up in the world, begin to notice where spaces in your home are just a reflection of that stuckness you might be feeling.
The essence of what I believe is that we are all one.
Anything I hate or reject about another person, I am hating or rejecting in myself.
And in order to get there – to speak and think and move from the belief that we are all one – we have to look really closely at what’s not working in our thoughts, beliefs and actions – and then do the work of burning that shit down.
No one is doing this perfectly.
And it’s time for all of us to begin doing it imperfectly.
We have to work in two directions: from the inside out, and from the outside in. We need both.
And the skillset I bring to the table to support you in this process is to work from the outside in – starting with the space you live in.
Without hijacking the conversation. Without twisting this moment in time to sell my services.
With simply a heart to support each and every one of you to create the beautiful life you deserve.
It starts with your home. I truly believe that.
Let’s declutter your house so you can start decluttering your brain.
I’m leading a free challenge next week to help you do just that. You can find all the information about it here: https://bit.ly/reclaimyourspacebytam.
